The cable entrance pit
The 20,OOO v cables carrying the
electric current, supplied by an outside plant to feed the Fort
with gathered at that spot. They were laid 2 yards below the
ground as from about 5 miles away to the fort, for an enemy not
to find out the presence of so vital a power conductor.
Coming in at a spot, located half way
in-between the rear and the front Block clusters, they were safe
from being deteriorated whenever the Entrances or the Combat
Blocks were bombed or shelled.
