The meals for the whole garrison were cooked in the kitchen, whose conception was, in those days, fairly up-to-date, viz. every kitchen appliance ran on electric power. The appliances can be itemized as follows :

• a self-controlled cooker fitted with three pots made of stainless steel, of which two could be operated simultaneously,
• an oven for cooking,
• a perculator,
• a hot-water boiler,
• a potato-peeler.

Beside the kitchen there are some rooms for food storage, among which a cold-room and a wine cellar. Incidentally, an additional kitchen range was used in the kitchen for officiers.
